listen

listen is a local music player. It does not require an account, does not provide a social layer, and does not collect personal data.
Information Collected
listen does not collect, store, transmit, or sell personal information.
The app does not include:
- analytics
- advertising SDKs
- third-party tracking
- telemetry
- data harvesting of any kind
Local File Access
listen requests access only when needed for user-directed music library features, such as:
- the user’s Music folder, if selected
- user-selected folders
- audio files, artwork, metadata, and playlists
- optional Apple Music library or catalog features, if enabled
These permissions are used solely to:
- reference audio files stored on your Mac or device
- import and display music library information
- display album artwork and metadata
- support optional Apple Music library, matching, playlist, or catalog browsing features
Your music files remain on your device.
listen does not move, rename, reorganize, or delete your music files during normal import.
The only time listen modifies an audio file is when you explicitly choose a feature that writes a supported change, such as embedding album artwork, into that file.
listen does not upload your audio files to any server.
Optional Internet Features
listen can be used as a local music player without enabling optional internet features.
If you enable Apple Music catalog features, listen uses Apple’s system frameworks and services to request Apple Music information. These features may require Apple permissions, an Apple Music subscription, or communication with Apple’s servers.
If you enable internet radio, listen connects to the stream URL you choose. The radio stream provider may receive standard connection information needed to deliver the stream.
listen does not use these optional features for advertising, tracking, analytics, telemetry, or data harvesting.
Spatial Audio
listen supports Apple’s head-tracked Spatial Audio playback where available. This feature uses Apple’s system-level audio processing and does not collect or transmit any data for listen.
listen does not access your microphone.
iCloud
listen does not sync data to external servers. If future versions include optional iCloud support, it will be limited to Apple’s private user storage.
Website
The listen website does not use analytics, advertising networks, or tracking scripts.
Hosting providers may collect standard server logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) for operational and security purposes. These logs are not accessed or used by listen.
